Anita Flores

On Wednesday, March 31, 2021 Anita Gutierrez Flores loving wife and mother of 4 children passed away at the age of 88.

Anita was born on July 26, 1932 in Las Animas County, Colorado to Jose and Catalina Gutierrez. Later Anita and her family moved to McQueeney, Texas and finally settled in Seguin, Texas. On July 12, 1948 Anita Gutierrez married Felipe V Flores Sr. They raised four children, Felipe Jr., Hope Horacefield, Dolores Henderson and Mary Saenz. Anita was a hardworking and strong-willed woman, housewife and mother. She was a wonderful cook that kept her recipes in her head. She did share them and has left many wonderful dishes to prepare for the holidays and everyday meals like mustard potato salad and her famous enchiladas and her capirotada.

Anita supported her late husband with the running of the tamales and taco establishment called “Flores Tamales.”

Anita is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Felipe V. Flores Sr. and siblings, Vicente Gutierrez, Cirilo Gutierrez, Ignacio Gutierrez, Janie Robles, Maria Ramos, and Rufina Herrera.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children as well as many grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren and numerous loving nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Holy Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. and Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery.

All guests attending services at the church are required to wear a face covering upon entering and inside the chapels at all times.
