Armando "Mondi" Hernandez

September 14, 1966 — August 20, 2022

Armando Hernandez, known to family and friends as “Mondi,” was called Home to the Lord on August 20, 2022, at the age of 55. He was born on September 14, 1966, in Seguin, Texas to Eliobardo “Valdo” Hernandez and Josie Bueno Hernandez.

Mondi was one of a kind. He loved with his whole heart. He was so humble with a heart of gold. He was the King of Dad jokes and always made everyone around him laugh. He loved to spend time with all of his family including his siblings, nieces, nephews, and his friends. After 16 years he finally married the love of his life on July 2, 2021.

Mondi was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan who never missed a game.  When Dallas was not playing you would find him sitting on the couch watching other football games, a baseball game or watching Sportscenter with an ice cold Budlight in his hand along with his pride and joy (Baby D) by his side. In addition, his passion was Tejano music. No matter what, you were always guaranteed a conversation about La Mafia or Los Palominos. He always jammed out while tapping his foot or playing the air accordion. Mondi leaves behind so many great memories for his family to cherish and he will be greatly missed by so many.

He is preceded in death by his father, Eliobardo “Valdo” Hernandez and his brothers, Alejandro “Flaco” Hernandez and Abel Hernandez.

He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Josie Bueno Hernandez; the love of his life, his wife, Lisa Marie Hernandez; his son, David “Baby D”, his step-children, Abel Rangel, Jenny (Rick) Luna and Briana Rangel; grandchildren, Gavin and London Rangel; his sisters, Gracie Montoya, Gloria (Jesse) Escobedo, Angelina “Butter” Hernandez, Eloisa “Bunny” Hernandez, and brothers, Alfonso “Ponti” Hernandez (Stella), Adrian “Ace” Hernandez (Lisa) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends that loved Mondi dearly.

Visitation will be held at Palmer Mortuary on Monday, August 29, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and a recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. and interment will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Willie “Buck” Rangel, Jimmy Harless, Rodney Harris, Basil Peña, Danny Carvajal, Abel Rodriguez, David DeLaGarza III, and Danny Rodriguez.
