Christoper Brian Mertz, age 39 of Seguin, Texas unexpectedly left this world on Monday August 26, 2024 and entered into eternal rest joining loved ones in Heaven.
He was born on May 17, 1985. A son to Melinda Mertz and the late Pete Villareal Sr. Chris blessed us with 39 wonderful years of his presence. Chris was an extremely loving and compassionate person with an enormous heart. He loved to play online video games with his friends, he loved spending time with his girlfriend and their dog Lily. He loved being an uncle, he loved helping people, and he loved his family, especially his mother. Although Chris was on dialysis, he didn't let it break him, in fact, it made him stronger. He always helped everyone in dialysis by walking them to their car or just talking to them, making friends with all he met.
Chris had many different roles in life, he was an amazing son, brother, uncle, boyfriend, nephew, cousin and friend just to name a few. The relationship he had with his niece and nephew was a special one. He was more of a father figure to them and made sure they were always okay. He was close to his siblings, especially his sister. They were best friends and enjoyed each other’s company; their bond is unbreakable. Chris also enjoyed spending time with his girlfriend. Amber was his first and last love, and being with her made him complete. Although he didn't have any children, he had his dogs Lucky and Lily. When Lucky went to the rainbow bridge Lily helped heal his broken heart. Lily will miss her daddy.
Chris is preceded in death by his father, Pedro S. Villareal Sr., his nieces Desiree Renee Guardiola and Emery Skye Garcia, his maternal grandparents Willie Mertz Sr. and Mary Lou Garcia-Mertz, siblings Pete Villarreal Jr. (Susie), Carlos Villarreal Sr., and JoAnn Casarez.
Chris leaves behind his loving mother, Melinda Mertz (Villareal), his siblings Adrian Mertz (LD), Leticia Mertz (Javier), Rosa (Peco) Sepulveda, Esteban (Margie) Villareal, Oscar (Diane) Villareal, Sylvia (Mike) McPhail, Abel (Maria) Villareal, Gloria Macias, Cindy (Willie) Rojas, Elizabeth (Marty) Gomez, Norma (Joel) Camarillo, Ruben (Alma) Villareal, Susie Villarreal, his nephew Jason T. Guardiola Jr, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, & friends. He also leaves behind the love of his life, Amber Mashy. Although Chris will be greatly missed, we are at peace knowing that he is being welcomed and embraced by his family and his puppy Lucky in Heaven.
Chris will be remembered by his contagious smile and loving heart. Our hearts are forever broken, and our family will never be the same. We will hold you in our hearts until we can hold you in our arms.
