Criselda Leal

Criselda "Cris" Serna Leal, 86 of Guadalupe County, was born to Isaac and Rosa Serna on Jan 4, 1932 has peacefully passed away on Feb 19, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family.

Cris is preceded in death by her parents, beloved son Jaime S. Leal, grand-daughter Chris Marie Alvarado, brothers Hector Serna, Sr. and Isaac Serna, Jr.

Cris is survived by her husband of 63 years Jesus "Jesse" G. Leal, children, Hector S. Leal, Nora Alvarado (Johnny), Regina Leal-Vandervort, Melissa Leal Tey (Carlos) and Denise Leal Rangel (Benjamin); daughter-in-law Rosemary Leal, grandchildren, Isaac Leal (Melanie), Melinda Ortiz (Armando), Hector Leal, Jr. (Esperanza), Jaime Leal (Holly), Dana Margio (Paolo), Carolyn Rodriguez (Joe), Marisela Elizondo (Adrian), Sirena Vandervort, Amber Vandervort, Makayla Tey, Nicholas Tey, Ryan Rangel, and Rayn Rangel; great grandchildren, Alexander, Isaac, Jr., Elizabeth, Jesse, Jaime, Christopher, Joseph, Jocelyn, Jayden, Stephanie, Trey, Alicia and Victoria; great great grandchildren, Xavier and Mason, sisters, Susie Rodriguez and Luisa Guerrero, sisters-in-law, Dolores Serna and Lupita Serna, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Cris was a proud Seguin High School graduate of the class of 1954. The day after graduation she married her high school sweet heart, Jesse, on May 30, 1954. Cris, was a talented seamstress, sewing not only for her family and friends, but also for her community. She gave never ending love and patience upon her family, whom she held dear to her heart. Cris never voiced any complaints of life's problems and would only resolve them. She leaves behind a life legacy of love, self-sacrifice, constantly putting the needs of others before herself to make sure her family never went without.

Cris will be remembered for her beautiful grace, caring heart and over whelming love she gave unconditionally. She will be missed for her compassionate hugs, kisses and her ability to prepare homemade meals and bake desserts. All who knew Cris will forever remember her for her beautiful smile and the way she embraced her life, family and friends.

The family would like to thank GRMC Hospice for their compassionate care.

The Visitation will be held at Palmer Mortuary Chapel on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. The Burial will follow at the San Geronimo Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be: Isaac Leal, Alexander Leal, Isaac Leal, Jr., Hector Leal, Jr., Jaime Leal, Nicholas Tey, Trey Davila, Larry Serna. And serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jesse Joe Leal, Jamie Joe Leal, Joseph Rodriguez, Jayden Rodriguez, Anthony Ortiz, Xavier Barrera, Mason Davila.
