David Wesley Jones, 80, of New Braunfels, Texas, went to be with our Lord on May 8, 2024. David was born in Lubbock, Texas, on November 26,1943, to Clyde and Goldie Jones.
David grew up in Lubbock, Texas and resided there until he was drafted into the United States Army. David proudly served in the Vietnam War. He later met the love of his life, Barbara, and they soon wed on April 20, 1968. David and Barbara raised their three children in Ropesville, Texas while David worked at the Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock. In 1997, they relocated to Geronimo, Texas where they became community members. David was employed at the Randolph Air Force Base until he retired. When David was not in his shop building bits, spurs and many trinkets for his family and the public you could find him outside with the many things he admired; his mare, pecan trees, banana tree and wondering if he would have a good crop of grass hay for the year. Pop was always intrigued with the ways things worked and fit together but most importantly sharing that new found knowledge with others. He had a great love for his family, friends, listening to his boys adventures in cowboying, watching Amber become a wonderful mother, going for walks with his grandbabies whenever he had a chance and driving his love, Barbara, around to the local ranchers and farmers while she worked for the USDA. Pop never failed to bring a good story or wise word to those he came in contact with. David will be missed by so many but rest assured those that know Our Lord and Savior will meet David face to face again one day and will be greeted with a great story of how things work in Heaven!
David is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jones, parents and brother Floyd Jones.
He is survived by his two sons, Will (Christie) Jones of Leona Valley California; Clint (Misty) Jones of Guthrie Texas and daughter Amber Dodson of New Braunfels Texas. David was blessed to be called “Pop” by 10 grandchildren; Tel Jones, Megan Jones, Mallorie Wilson, Natalie Schleeter, Kolby Jones, Levi (Mary) Jones, Abigail Jones, Sierra Jones, Audrey Dodson and Aurora Dodson; Brother to Mary Lois Walker (Robert Walker), Judy Gilson (Harold Gilson), John Jones (Darla), Steve Jones (Brittani) and sister-n-law Sandy Rowe; along with many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2. 2024, at LPFFA Union Hall, 8517 Urbana Lubbock, Texas 79424. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of David Jones to your local VFW.Visits: 588
