Domingo Luna De La Cruz Sr., born on April 10, 1938 in Seguin, TX went home to be with our heavenly father on January 8th, 2015 at 11:41 am surrounded by his family.
Domingo enlisted in the United States Army on December 6, 1960. He retired from active duty on December 4, 1962 and was a member of the Army Reserve until 1966. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.
Domingo was preceded in death by his father Miguel De La Cruz and mother Prudencia Luna De La Cruz, as well as his brothers Lorenzo Luna De La Cruz and Gilbert Luna De La Cruz.
Domingo was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He was also a member of many religious organizations including the Holy Name Society, Prayer Group Society and Crusillistas of our Lady.
Domingo is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Antolina Gutierrez De La Cruz. His eight children: Domingo De La Cruz Jr. (Lisa), Marivel Alcoser (Pete), Veronica Cruz (Ed), Virginia Herrera (James), Raquel Cordova (Johnny), Lynda De La Cruz, Noel De La Cruz (Denise) and Elvira Arias (Willie). As well as 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings Juanita Garza, Antonio De La Cruz (Natividad) and Jesus De La Cruz (Janie).
Pallbearers are: Pete Alcoser, Ed Cruz, James Herrera, Johnny Cordova, David Sanchez and Esteban Herrera. Honorary pallbearers are: Anthony De La Cruz, Elliott Cruz, Mark Cruz, Willie Arias, Jesse Arias, and Jayden Sanchez.
Domingo De La Cruz was a loving husband and father devoting all of his life to his family. He was referred to as "The Man of Steel" due to his strength in both body and spirit. He was an inspiration to his children and grandchildren. He will truly be missed.
A Visitation will be held at Palmer Mortuary on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 12:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p. m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 11:00 a. m. Interment will be held at San Geronimo Cemetery.
