Dora Mart�Nez

Dora Morles Martnez was born in Marion, TX. on February 27, 1914. She died in Seguin, TX. on August 09, 2009 at the age of 95. Dora was born to Emilia Bravo Morles and Juan Morles, the 10th child out of 14. She married Guadalupe Martnez in Seguin, on November 27, 1938 at La Trinidad Methodist Church. She and Guadalupe were married for 70 years.

She is survived by her husband ; four children: Joel and spouse Raquel, of San Antonio, Antonio and spouse Dolores, of Seguin, Manuel and spouse Jo Ann, of Corpus Christi and Amanda and spouse Jesse Rosas, of Seguin; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was an active member of La Trinidad United Methodist Church in Seguin, volunteering for many church activities and serving on the local church Administrative Board. She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Womens organization. Until her early 90s she never missed Sunday worship.

She was preceded in death by her 13 siblings, brothers: Juan, Pablo, Enrique, Felix, Manuel, Ignacio, Antonio, and sisters: Consuelo Jasso, Maria Arriaga, Toribia Herrera, Janie Colunga, Elisa Alaniz, and Elizabeth Morin.

As a community volunteer, Dora was active in the PTA at Juan Seguin Elementary School, did translation for Spanish-speaking citizens, and wrote letters to government agencies on their behalf. She also volunteered with the Senior Citizens Center, and The Meals on Wheels Program. She was honored by the City Council in Seguin with a Proclamation on her 90th birthday for service and contributions to the people of the community. Her family established a Scholarship Fund in her name with the Texas Methodist Foundation in Austin, TX.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2009 from 4:00 pm- 9:00 pm followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at Palmer Mortuary Chapel. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 11:00 am at La Trinidad United Methodist Church, 306 E. Gonzales St. in Seguin with Rev. Isidro Pia officiating and Dr. David Maldonado, Jr. preaching. Interment in San Geronimo Cemetery in Seguin.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to The Texas Methodist Foundation, 11709 Boulder Lane, Suite 100, Austin, TX. 78726 for the Dora Morles Martnez Scholarship Fund.
