Our beloved dad, Emilio, passed away December 27, 2011, in Boise Idaho. Emilio was born on August 5, 1918 in Hidalgo, Texas. He married Maria del Rosario Rosa Gutierrez on Oct. 7, 1939 and they were married 70 years until she passed away in 2009. They had 11 children. Dad is survived by ten of their children: Sylvia Butcher Dan, Ida Salazar Lupe, Elena Coffel Alan, Yolanda Lumbreras Augustine, Idolina Volz Tom, Emilio Ordonez Sue, Rick Ordonez Sally, Javier Ordonez Debra, Diana Hernandez Joe, and Elisandro Ordonez Amy. They have 27 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Valentina Reyes, Juanita Ledesma, and brother Lupe Castillo.
Both dad and mom loved to travel, and joined their children on vacations across the United States, including trips to California, Idaho, Oregon, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Hawaii, to name a few. They loved their trips to the Oregon coast and to Hawaii. Dad loved to fish, and would retell the story of catching the big one to friends at the Idaho State Veterans Home. He also enjoyed playing bingo with his friends and doing his word search puzzles. We were truly blessed that we had wonderful parents who loved us and who held us close to their hearts. He worked very hard all his life to provide for his family. We will really miss you apa. But we know you have gone up to heaven to join mom, your parents, your daughter, Othilia, and your grandfather. We will remember you always and carry you in our hearts.
Dad proudly served his country in the Army during World War II.
A funeral service was held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery with military honors on December 30, 2011, and was managed by Summers Funeral Home of Boise, Idaho. A second funeral service will be held in Seguin, Texas in January and will be managed by Palmer Mortuary of Seguin.
