Esperanza Castilleja

Esperanza Salazar Castilleja, of Seguin, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2016, surrounded by all her family and loved ones, in her home, at the age of 85. She was born in New Braunfels, Texas on June 12, 1930 to Eliseo and Crescencia (Rodriguez) Salazar.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ladislado Castilleja, Sr., her parents, brother, Jose Salazar, children, Virginia, Margarita and Maria Castilleja; and grandson, David Tijerina.

Survivors include her children, Rafael Castilleja and wife Lydia, Ladislado Castilleja, Jr., and wife Dora, Mary Lou Schulz and husband Ken, Vangie Flores, Delia Jaimes and husband Francisco, Theresa Castilleja, Yolanda Davila and husband Jim; grandchildren, Monica E. Navarro, Bernard Castilleja, Lori Aviles, Priscilla Soto, Rita Castilleja, Rafael Castilleja, Jr., Jennifer Castilleja, Ladislado Castilleja, III, Noami Castilleja, Stephanie Brownfield, Margaret Medina, Mando Tijerina, Jr., Michael Tijerina, Francisco Jaimes, Jr., Sabrina Lopez, Rafael Jaimes, Michael Castilleja, Anitra Garcia, William Garcia; as well as 42 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

Esperanza, was a devoted employee with Tyson Foods for 20 years, where she retired. She was also a faithful Guadalupana of 39 years with Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Pallbearers will be, Sonny Castilleja, Ladislado Castilleja, III, Armando Tijerina, Jr., Francisco Jaimes, Jr., Rafael Jaimes, Jr., William Garcia, Gilbert Navarro, Jr., and Joe Anthony Jaimes.

Visitation will be held at Palmer Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited by the Deacon Nick Carrillo at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery.
