Eusebio "Chevo" Lara, a beloved figure of Seguin, Texas, passed away on September 3, 2024 at the age of 78 in San Antonio. Born on December 5, 1945, in Seguin, Chevo was a man whose spirit and character left an indelible mark on his community and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Chevo was a kind, funny, and loving soul, an iconic presence in the town of Seguin. With a personality that drew people in and a heart that brimmed with warmth, he was known for his engaging spirit and memorable catchphrases that brought smiles to many faces. His unique charm and humor made him a treasured friend to those lucky enough to cross his path.

A true lover of life's simple pleasures, Chevo found joy in playing checkers and chess, holding a deep disdain for cheaters, which reflected his strong sense of fairness and integrity. He had a particular fondness for his beloved "soda," especially Diet Coke, which he cherished every bit as much as his time spent enjoying the great outdoors. In his younger days, Chevo loved to walk around town, often sweeping the porches of local businesses for some pocket change and a cold soda. His laughter echoed through Starcke Park as he delighted in swimming, often heard shouting "underwater" and "cannon ball" as he made a splash.

Chevo’s enthusiasm for life extended to the baseball games he frequently attended—another avenue for him to share in the camaraderie and enjoyment of those around him. His previous employment at PJ's restaurant was a point of pride, where he thrived at a job that brought him immense joy.

Chevo was also a man of unshakable faith, filled with love for Jesus and a commitment to his church community. He embraced his faith with open arms, inspiring those around him with his deep conviction and love for others.

He leaves behind a legacy filled with fond memories cherished by his sisters, Susie L. Rodriguez and Petra Lucio Gutierrez; his nieces and nephew, Carmen Gutierrez and Mario, Fabian Rodriguez and LyAnn, Isabel Rodriguez and Johnny Diaz, Diana Reyes and Luis R.,  Elisa Shadrock and Ken, Faustina Rodriguez and Joel, Dominga Ramirez and Oscar, Jesse Ramirez, John David Hipps, Peter Ramos, Petra Nancy Ramirez and Roy, Lupe Ovalle, Jimmy Vidaurri Jr., Rosa Vidaurri, Albert Vidaurri and Linda, Cindy Vidaurri along with numerous extended family members and a wide circle of friends and residents of Seguin who all knew and loved him.
