Eva Luna Chavez of Seguin, Texas was welcomed into our Fathers Heavenly Kingdom on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at the age of 87. She was born to Martin Luna and Rafaela Vielma Luna on May 19, 1932 in Seguin, Texas.
Eva is preceded in death by both of her parents; two infant sons; grandson, Dwayne Cook and her sisters, Rachel Luna Guajardo and Carrie Herrera.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Epimenio Chavez Sr., children, Teresa Chavez, Ancelmo Chavez, Ester Cook, Epimenio Chavez Jr. and Eva Marie and her husband Frank Sands; grandchildren, Michelle Sorber, Roxanne Sorber, Amanda Chavez, Bianca Chavez, Brian Ancelmo Chavez, Christopher Cook, Epimenio Chavez III, Meghan Woodruff, Laura Quinones and Jade Quinones; great-grandchildren, Elias Moran, Kane Cook, Evelyn Chavez, Melanie Chavez, Miley Rodriguez, Rylie MacNeill, Mason MacNeill, Juliana Quinones, Jayce Doria, Lorenzo Branch, Mateo Cuthbert, and Malik Cuthbert; her sisters, Estela Casas, Elisa Briseño, Mary Louise Lutz, Gracie Flores as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Eva attended catholic school at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, she reached the 8th grade and proceeded to then obtain her GED soon after. She loved the church and being around the church so much that her destiny took her to become a teacher at Our Lady of Guadalupe, from catechism class to marital classes she taught it all. She was the president of the infamous Guadalupanas at Our Lady of Guadalupe two times and enjoyed traveling to San Antonio and Fredericksburg. Anywhere she would travel to she would do it with her sisters. She loved spending time with her sisters and her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Palmer Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019 to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Following the Mass, interment will be conducted at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery.
