Francis Guess

Francis Howell "Spunky'' Guess, 86, of natural causes on September 13, 2015, in Kennesaw GA where he was recovering from recent illnesses. He was with family and friends at the time of his death. Mr. Guess was a long-time resident of Lawrenceburg, TN, prior to that he had lived in Seguin, Texas for over 40 years.

Spunky, as he was widely known was born in Sumter SC to Berta (Vining)and Friendly Guess January 16 1929. Mr. Guess proudly served with and retired from the US Air Force as a highly decorated master sergeant in 1969. During his entire adult life he continuously volunteered as an adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Guess received many awards recognizing his dedication and devotion to public service for his charitable, religious, fraternal and political efforts.

He is survived by son Michael Francis Guess, Irving TX, his daughter Belinda Guess Owens and her husband Dave Owens, Cartersville GA, son Marc Steven Guess, and his wife Pamela Poe Guess, Moulton AL.

Mr. Guess leaves 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Spunky is further survived by nephews Danny Bastone, Charleston SC, Jackie Bastone, Houston TX and Jerry Bastone, Kissimmee, Florida as well as Jim Guess, Martinez, CA.

Spunky was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Lillian Ramzinski Guess San Antonio Texas and their youngest son Robert August Guess, Monte Rio CA. Spunky was the last of his family having outlived his parents, 1 sister and 3 brothers.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be conducted at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 19, 2015, with Father Benedict Antony officiating. Further services will take place at Palmer Mortuary, 1116 N. Austin Street, Seguin, Texas, The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Palmer Mortuary. Graveside services and internment will be conducted at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 23, 2015.

Spunky will be missed by his family and the many friends he made over the years during a life well spent. It is certain that Mr. Guess would offer his thanks for all those who were a part of his life with special thanks to all the people with whom he spent his final years and gave him so much help, support and friendship. He lived his life the way he wanted to.
