Francisca "Panchita" Salas Sassenhagen went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Remarkable Healthcare in Seguin, Texas at the age of 90, with her loving family at her side. She was born to Francisco and Seferina (Arredondo) Salas on December 5, 1925 in Fentress, TX. She was raised in Seguin where she met and married the love of her life Dario Sassenhagen Sr.
Frances is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her daughter Felipa Sassenhagen, and her son Eulogio Sassenhagen, her brothers Procorro, Felix, Juan, and Andres Salas, as well as her sisters, Josefina Frausto, Lucia Contrerras, Maria Salas, and Manuela Casteneda.
She is survived by her daughter Minerva Lopez and husband Reinaldo of Fernandina Beach, FL; her sons Dario Sassenhagen Jr. and wife Dora of New Braunfels, Joe Sassenhagen Sr. and wife Emma of New Braunfels, Alvin Sassenhagen Sr. and wife Josie of Austin. She is also survived by her grandchildren Monica Whitson (Robert), Dario III (Maria), Darrin (Natalie), Devin, Derrick (Sandi) Sassenhagen, Eddie Torres (Stephanie), and Cindy Torres (Shawn), Rebecca Velasquez, Jennifer Leal (Doonie), Joey Sassenhagen (Emily), Alvin Jr. and Daniel Sassenhagen; her great-grandchildren Julian, Dario Jesus, Libby, Gracie, Kylie, Blake, Gage, and Charlie Sassenhagen; sister Ninfa Rodriguez; sister-in-law Patsy Salas; and many nieces and nephews.
Frances enjoyed crafts, like making piñatas and cascarones and would sell them at Easter time. She loved spending time with her family and neighbors. She liked to sing out loud for everyone to hear.
Visitation will be held at Palmer Mortuary Chapel on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 9:00 a.m., Internment will follow.
The family would like to thank the staff at Remarkable Healthcare for the care they provided, and a very heart felt Thank You to her special caregiver Dora Sassenhagen, for the unconditional love and care, she gave all these years.
