Franklin Brandenberger

August 6, 1925 — December 31, 2015

Franklin Willard Brandenberger, of Seguin, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 31, 2015. He was born on his dad's ranch near Hilda, Texas on August 6, 1925 to his parents, Wesley and Esther Brandenberger. Franklin learned to drive at about 10 years old and had special permission to drive kids from his area of county to school. He spoke only German at home and told of getting into trouble at school for not speaking English in the first grade, when the teacher could hear. He joined the Merchant Marines during World War II and served as a cook and baker on tankers, said Captain and Officers never messed with the cooks. He met Marjorie Blumberg through an arranged blind date, set up by Chris and Myrtle Deschner. Soon he married Marjorie and they almost had a 69 year union. Franklin was a talker and spent most of his working years selling everything from milk door-to-door, to Kellog's, to Nestle Chocolate. He served the community by participating at the McQueeney Lion's Club for many years and was a lifetime member. Marjorie and Franklin were lifelong members of Seguin's First United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, parents, sister Imogene Loftin and grandson Rodney Brandenberger.

Survivors include his children, Barry Brandenberger and wife Donna, Dennis Brandenberger and wife Vickie, grandchildren Kristin Martinez and husband Mark; grandchildren, Amber Brandenberger, Justin Brandenberger and wife Lindsay, Wesley Brandenberger, Clint Brandenberger; great grandchildren, Aiden, Axel, Addox, Astin, Angelica, Alize and baby Asher Martinez; sisters, Florence Smith and Gladys Hamman.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Mc Queeney Lion's Club on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.
