James E. Tips, of Seguin, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 at the age of 95. He was born in Seguin, Texas on November 8, 1921 to Eugene C. and Jeanette "Nettie" (Fennell) Tips.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ina Mae "Teddy" Lee Tips, child, Terrence, parents, siblings, Eugene Fennell, Charles Cameron, and Thomas Conrad Tips.
Survivors include his children, Charles and James Tips, brother, Victor Tips, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Seguin High School, attended Texas A&M and Texas Lutheran University. James was licensed as an insurance agent in 1940, upon his father's death and at a young age, James, took over his father's insurance and lumber companies in 1941. He served in the U. S. Air force (WWII and Korean Conflict) and was a proud veteran.
With a lifetime of experience and knowledge in business, military, religious and civic opportunities, James, was a dedicated man, honoring God, his family, country and community. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Past Chairman , Official Board; President, Methodist Men; Chairman, Commission on Membership and Evangelism; Sunday School Teacher; Director, Seguin and Guadalupe County Chamber of Commerce; Director Seguin Jaycees; County Fund Drive Chairman, American Red Cross and Boy Scouts of Amercia, Member of Seguin: Lions Club, Elks Lodge and American Legion.
A Graveside Service will be held at San Geronimo Cemetery on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 10:30 a.m.
