John Philip Dayton, SFC, US Army Retired, waged a short but courageous battle with cancer, and dutifully answered his Highest Commanders Final Roll Call on the 7th of June surrounded by those he loved at his home, this included his dog campanion Peanut,
He was born 11 March 1951 in Riverhead, New York to Dorothy Collins Dayton who has predeceased him, and Nathan Dayton of Ft Meyers, FL. Besides his father, he is survived by his sister Lucia, and brother Mark of Long Island, NY , and a brother Halsey in the Maryland, DC area. He was known as a father to Dawn Thurlow of Manchester, NH, Misty Flemming of Seguin, Tx. Sean Merril of Bastrop Tx, Byeong Hee Lee of Austin Tx, and Sook Lee of Irving Tx. He also loved and doted on the 14 grandchildren who loved him dearly and are experiencing a huge vaccumn in their hearts.
John graduated St Phillips college with a degree in computer science. He served twentythree years in the service of our country in the US Army and dearly cherished his experiances while deployed on worldwide assignments. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in McQueeney, Tx, and also the DAV in Seguin. Words do not adequately express Johns and the familys appreciation to the DAV and Odyssey Hospice for thier concern and undaunting efforts to assist John is everyway possible for his difficult and final journey.
A military funeral with full honors is scheduled for the 21st if June at 0945 with interment into the columbarium at Fort Sam Houston.
