Johnny Ray Gomez Jr., affectionately known as Jr, was born on May 17, 2007, in Seguin, Texas. His journey through life, though heartbreakingly cut short at the tender age of 17, was filled with vibrant passions and an infectious spirit that touched everyone he encountered. Jr unexpectedly departed this world on February 27, 2025, in Pleasanton, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love.
Jr had a heart that resonated with music; he loved to listen, rap, and even write his own rhymes. His creativity didn’t stop there - he was an avid gamer, a talented artist, and found peace in the simplicity of fishing. These hobbies were not just pastimes for Jr; they were a reflection of his zest for life and his unique ability to find joy in both the playful and the serene.
He was surrounded by an adoring family who loved him deeply. Survivors include his mother, Courtney Lynn Garcez, and her partner, Luis Enrique Reyes Lechler, alongside his devoted father, Johnny Ray Gomez. Jr was cherished by his siblings: Fantasi Gomez, Penelope Rangel, Treasure Cormier, Goddess Cormier, Edwin Reyes Lechler, Luisa Reyes Lechler, Noah Reyes Lechler, Vida Reyes Lechler, Jaevyn Gomez, and Thyri Gomez. He also shared a close bond with his aunts and uncles - Johnathan Rene Diaz, Mariah Torres, Michael Ray Torres Jr., Esai Benito Torres, Joe Anthony Gomez, Amanda Gomez, and Christopher Gomez, who all beamed with pride at his accomplishments and the bright light he brought into their lives. His grandparents, Patricia Garcez, Rosemary Orozco, and Eddie Jose Placencia, were unwavering pillars of support and love. Additionally, numerous cousins, extended family, and friends filled his life with laughter, friendship, and memories that will forever warm the hearts of those who knew him.
Jr is preceded in death by his stepfather, Michael Raul Rangel, his grandfather, Jose Orozco, and his great-grandmother, Anita Garcez and brother, Mesiah Raul III Rangel all of whom will welcome him with open arms in a serene embrace.
As we remember Johnny Ray Gomez Jr., let us celebrate the fullness of his life, the laughter he brought, and the love that will always surround him. Though he was taken away too soon, his memory lives on in each heart he touched, a reminder of the beauty and fragility of life.
