It is with confidence in the plans of God that we remember and share about
Joyce Kay Odom Rochford. In addition to being a cherished child of God she is
a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend.
Joyce's journey began on April 29, 1962, in Corpus Christi, TX. She peacefully
passed away on April15, 2024, in Seguin, TX.
Throughout her life, Joyce found joy and fulfillment through her family and
various work experiences. Her greatest joy and truest self, seemed to come to
life when she was surrounded by family at various events especially the many
large Odom Family functions and the smaller celebrations with her children
and grandchildren.
Family meant everything to Joyce, especially her grandkids. Whatever she was
suffering through she was able to smile and make the youngest members in
the room feel noticed and loved by her.
Joyce was a person who could do something to scare the pants off you. Then
make a crude comment about having lost your pants then smile and laugh and
let you know she thought you were important all in one conversation.
Throughout her own struggles and difficulties she found her way back to
wanting to just love and be loved.
After years of wandering through life struggles and busyness, Joyce found
solace in her Catholic faith and attended St James Catholic Church in Seguin
before she was not able to get around on her own. She came to take comfort in
reading the bible and sharing her favorite verses with those around her.
Joyce leaves behind a legacy of perseverance and commitment to family even
in the hardest times. She is reunited in eternal peace with her parents Byron
and Judy Odom, brothers Monty Whipple and Vestal Bernie Odom, and sister Deborah Odom, her sons
Jimmy and Jon Massey, and her granddaughter, Bella Massey.
In her passing, Joyce also leaves behind surviving family members including,
daughters Genna Spruill (Mick), Niki Bozeman (Kirk); sons Robert Crouch Jr
(Amanda), Kyle Crouch(May); grandchildren Jimmy and Ethan Spruill,
Melody Spruill Harris (Jahree), Ryan Reed, Kaliegh, Trinity, Rese, and Tate Crouch,
and Jayce Pearson, Jude and TJ Bozeman, Scarlette, Travis, Autumn,
Ember, and Aurora Crouch, and great-grandchildren Jaharee Harris Jr. and
Kei'mari O'ralea Reid-Niel.
Her siblings here to mourn her loss are: brothers Byron, Larry (Beth), Valter
(Lisel), Kevin, Loid (Liz) Odom; sisters Kathy Odom Robertson (Will),
Bernice Odom Simmons (Robert); In addition, she leaves countless aunts, uncles,
cousins, nieces, and nephews.
While we mourn the loss of Joyce, we take solace in knowing that the only
remaining wounds and scars are in the hands that now hold her in loving
peace and comfort. May we honor Joyce through our own perseverance and
reconciliation in our lives as well as delighting in the small children we are
blessed to encounter.
Rosary will be recited on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church. A memorial Mass will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Three Rivers Cemetery at 3:30 p.m.
Rest in peace, dear Joyce. We pray for you and miss you.
