OBITUARY KATHRYN O. DE LANY

Kathryn Ottelie Smith DeLany was born January 14, 1916 in La Vernia, Texas to Aubrey Lee and Edna Smith. She married Jack DeLany on May 16, 1934 in Jourdanton, Texas. On May 20, 1984, Jack and Kathryn celebrated 50 years of marriage by renewing their vows here in Seguin, Texas. On February 12, 1985, Kathryn said a temporary goodbye to Jack, as the Lord called him to Heaven on that day. She remained steadfast and strong in her loving commitment to Jack for the rest of her days. During their marriage, Kathryn was active in local and state political activities and was a columnist in the local paper. She also worked in the restaurant business with long time friend and partner Neva Redmond of Seguin. Kathryn was a loving daughter and sister to Aubrey Jean and Russell Smith. She was also a loving aunt not only to Joan, Karen and Kevin to whom she was known as Aunt Kassie, but also the many nieces and nephews in Jacks family. Jack was raised in a family of seventeen children, so there were a lot of them to love. Kathryn re-joined Jack in Heaven on October 22, 2007. She was preceded on her journey to Heaven, by her parents, brother Russell, niece Joan and niece Karen. She is survived by Aubrey Jean Busby, her sister, and Kevin and Nora Busby, nephew and niece, all of Seguin, Texas, and great nephew and niece, Kevin and Samantha Ewick of Lytle, Texas along with their four sons and daughter. She is also survived by nephew and niece, Steve and Jamie Lum and their daughter Samantha of Seguin, Texas.

Visitation will be held at Palmer Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 from 5:00 PM 9:00 PM. A Chapel Service will take place at Palmer Mortuary Chapel on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:00 AM with interment to follow in San Geronimo Cemetery.
