Martha Theresia Cuzick of Stockdale, Texas entered into eternal rest at her home on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the age of 86.
Martha was born to Franz Xavier and Kreszenzia (Haussler) Stegmaier on October 27, 1932 in Ay Kreis Neu Ulm, Germany. In 1958 Martha married the love of her life William (Ted) Cuzick and soon after moved to the United States to begin her life as a devoted military wife and mother to their five children. In addition to raising their children, she was an accomplished business manager in both the restaurant and retail industries, as well as volunteering her time to the Fort Sam Houston Optimist’s Club and Brooke Army Medical Center. After Ted and Martha retired in 1996, they moved to their ranch in Stockdale to enjoy life in the country and to continue to pursue her many talents and hobbies. She was an accomplished painter, loved crafting and sewing, and enjoyed spending time in her garden. She also loved reading, traveling and developed a love for cruising. Above all, her greatest passion was her love for her family. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Martha is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, LTC (Ret.)William Theodore Cuzick; children, William E. Cuzick and wife Julie, Brigit Cuzick Lucas, Ingred C. Lathrop and husband Rick, Yvonne Cuzick Bukowski and husband Charlie, and Christopher T. Cuzick and wife Leslie; grandchildren, Anaka Davis, Samuel Cuzick, Chase Cuzick, Neishelle Cuzick, Christopher Lucas, Stephen Lucas, Christina Moores and husband Ben, Teddy Lathrop, Zach Lathrop, Brandon Chance and wife Amanda, Ryan Bukowski and wife Kayleigh, Tyler Bukowski, Carter Bukowski, Victoria Cuzick, Emily Cuzick and William Cuzick; and numerous friends of the family.
An internment service is scheduled for Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in Committal Shelter #3 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. Chaplain Roy Collins will officiate the service. A reception will immediately follow the service at the Ft. Sam Houston Golf Club from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to Guadalupe Regional Hospice Services for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to Martha and her family in their time of need. Donations may also be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriner's Hospitals for Children or the USO, which were just a few of her favorite charities (she had MANY), or a charity of your choice.
