Mary Avalos Belmarez, born on March 24, 1962, in Kingsbury, Texas, found her eternal rest on November 18, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories that will forever echo in the hearts of her family and friends.
As a devoted homemaker and babysitter, Mary poured her heart into nurturing countless families within her community. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, where her culinary talents shone brightly during holiday gatherings, bringing joy and comfort to all who were fortunate enough to partake in her cooking and baking. Mary had a special gift for making every moment spent with loved ones feel extraordinary, embracing each occasion with enthusiasm and care.
Mary's personality was a wonderful blend of kindness, humor, and acceptance. Those who knew her remember her as a loving and caring individual, someone who could always be counted on to lend a listening ear or help lift spirits during trying times. Her contagious smile and witty sense of humor would light up the room, reminding everyone around her of the joy of living. Despite facing her own medical challenges, she never allowed her struggles to overshadow her vibrant spirit, always prioritizing the needs of others until her last days.
In addition to her family, who always came first, Mary had a passion for plants, cooking, crafts, and thrifting, and she cherished moments spent dancing to music. Each of these interests reflected her joyful approach to life—finding beauty and happiness in the everyday.
Mary a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all; is survived by her husband, Andrew Belmarez; her children, Christopher Onnen, Erica Estrella, Ruben Avalos, and Daniel Gomez; and her cherished grandchildren, Juslyn Sanchez, Brianna Sanchez, Aireana Sanchez, Sinaida Avalos, Alyana Avalos, Ruby Avalos, Isabella Avalos, Chase Onnen, Jaedin Sanchez, Anton, Aaden, Atom, and Hector Avalos, as well as Matthew Herrera, Jeremiah Herrera, and Nathaniel “Nate” Herrera. She will also be lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren Nehemiah, Evangeline, and Ja'siah.
Mary is also survived by her beloved mother, Gloria Avalos; her siblings, Frank Avalos, Monica Avalos, Sylvia Tovar, Lisa Diaz, and Jose; alongside numerous nieces and nephews who were touched by her kindness.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Marcelino Avalos, and her brother, Raymundo Avalos.
Visiting hours will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Palmer Mortuary. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m.
Family and Friends are invited to meet at Our Lady of Guadalupe of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. All services will conclude after mass and cremation will follow.
In the hearts of those she loved, Mary will remain forever alive. Her spirit—filled with unwavering love and joy—will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends through the cherished memories they created together. As they gather to reminisce about her life and the light she brought into their lives, it will be evident that her legacy of love will endure across generations.
