Mary Louise Goodwin was welcomed into our Fathers Heavenly Kingdom on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the age of 90. She was born to Pedro Gonzales and Nieves Maruffo Gonzales on June 6, 1929 in Austin, Texas.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, William Woodford Johnson Goodwin and her brother, Edward Gonzales.
She is survived by her son, Jesse Guillen Jr.; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
Mary graduated from Fox Tech in 1947. Following her graduation, she attended Incarnate Word and graduated in 1951 with her B.S.N. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 30 years of her life and eventually retired from her career. Her work was extremely important to her. She dedicated her life, love and care to being a Registered Nurse. Mary was a sweet, loving and welcoming soul. She never met a stranger and anyone who crossed paths with her in life grew to love her. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs fan. She will be greatly missed by all of those whose life she touched during her lifetime.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Palmer Mortuary. Funeral Mass will begin on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and interment will follow with a funeral procession leading to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Guadalupe Regional Hospice for all of their care and compassion with Mary.
