On July 3, 2024, Matthew Ryan Burrer was tragically taken from this world at the age of 44 at his home in New Braunfels, Texas. He would have been 45 years old on July 5, 2024. The family is taking comfort in knowing Matthew is now with our Lord and Savior. The memories, moments, and most of all love Matthew created in this world will not be forgotten.
An employee of UPS for 24 years, Matthew worked long hours. However, in his free time he had a passion for dirt bikes and traveling. His dream was to one day buy land and build his own racetrack for his bikes. Matthew’s most recent trip was to BVI, where he snorkeled, hiked and lived life to the fullest.
When not working, traveling, or riding, Matthew loved to spend time with his family. He was always present for family events and would frequently make time to eat Sunday dinner with his parents. He loved children and animals, and they likewise loved him, and were drawn to his gentle soul and calm nature. His niece and nephew adored their Uncle Matt, his time and his attention. Matt was always ready to play with the kids the minute he walked in, often bringing footballs or frisbees, showing up ready to swim, and taking them for rides at the lake on the jet ski.
Matthew was incredibly intelligent and creative. As a child, he painted beautiful landscape portraits, and would excel at mastering most any challenge he decided to face. Mostly quiet and reserved, he had a quick wit and a hilarious sense of humor that he would suddenly surprise you with and have you laughing until you cried.
The world is forever changed without Matthew, and he will be greatly missed.
Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Barbara Elmendorf; and grandparents Harvey and Margie Burrer.
Matthew is survived by his parents, Dennis and Connie Burrer; his sister and brother-in-law, Kari and Jeff Johle, along with their children Bryce (nephew) and Brooke (niece) Johle; his uncle, Ward Elmendorf; his aunt and uncle, Carolyn & Floyd Mockert; his uncle, Donald Burrer; his aunt Nancy Hunter; and several cousins.
A memorial service honoring the life of Matthew will be held on July 25th, 2024, at 10:00 am. at Oakwood Church, 2154 TX-337 Loop, New Braunfels, TX 78130. A reception will follow the memorial.
In lieu of flowers, and in remembrance of Matthew’s life and love for animals, the family asks that those who wish can make a donation in Matthew’s name to New Braunfels Humane Society or Bulverde Humane Society.
