Mr. Monte Arthur Ess "the man with 9 lives" was born to Arthur and Helen Ess of East Aurora, New York.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Emily Havel Ess of Gonzales, Texas. Emily was a Hexcel Technician for 37 years. Monte was also preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Lee & Joel Ess; sister-in-law, Mary Ess all of East Aurora, New York. In addition, Monte was preceded by his dear cat, Princess.
Monte is survived by his most dearest friend and "adoptive daughter" Lori A. Campos-Bautista in which there was not a day that he did not call or speak to her at least "10 times a day". She will truly miss him the most.
In addition, Monte is survived by his niece, Dawn Ess Spears of Arcade, New York and family as well as other numerous relatives.
Monte was an Honorary Seguin Police Officer and wore "his badge" proudly. There was never a moment whether in the hospitals, nursing homes, doctor's offices, barber shop, etc. that he was always asked "how many years did he serve?" as every time you saw Mr. Ess he was wearing his "blues" proudly. His best buddies Johnny San Miguel and Willie Ybarra as well as so many more at the Seguin Police Department can testify. He was GRMC's "personal security guard" outside of Social Services/Case Management as "anyone out of the ordinary" never stepped out of line when they would see him standing there (chewing his gum).
His friendly face and smile will be missed.
His burial will take place at the Gonzales City Cemetery.
A "Day of Celebration" will take place on May 4, 2019 at GRMC Selig Room at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers Mr. Ess has requested to make a memorial contribution in his name to the Seguin Police Department D.A.R.E program or the City of Seguin Animal Shelter.
