Pedro Javier Lopez was born in Teotihuacan, Mexico, a suburb famous for its ancient pyramids just on the outskirts of Mexico City. His mother, younger brother and younger sister survive him along with many coworkers, teammates and friends who cared for him. Javier was very happy to know that he was soon to become a dad. Javier came to the United States after serving in the Mexican Army as a paratrooper. He worked on a local farm helping with the health and spirit of the assorted pet animals, building with the owners his own cabin, helping to care for the land with stone work, field work and tree trimming. He cared for freedom and often wondered aloud if his services were needed by the U.S. Army in Iraq he wanted to help but was afraid to step up because of his illegal status. He had contacted the consulate to begin to take steps to gain U.S. citizenship. He also spoke of one day becoming a restaurant owner after he had tried his hand as a disc jockey he loved music. He was a student and a teacher, studying English in community classes and teaching Spanish to those around him whose skills were limited but who wanted to learn.
Pedro Javier was a man who cared for his clothes, his appearance and his body. Many a day after work he would run a 7 mile route to stay in shape. He also fashioned his own barbells out of tree trunks. He loved soccer everything about it and always looked forward to joining is teammates in competitions.
We will all miss Pedro Javier Lopez.
