Rosario Sassenhagen, loyal wife, gifted cook, mother and friend extraordinaire, and long-time resident of the Seguin area went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the age of 68.
Born on October 5, 1946 in Seguin, Texas she was an avid bingo enthusiast who loved getting out of the house and enjoyed the company of others. For 38 years, she worked as a weaver at Hexcel retiring in 2010 to spend more time with her husband of 53 years and love of her life, David Sassenhagen, Sr. Endearingly called Fina by her family, she loved good food and socializing, taking trips to casinos, and truly had a smile that could light up any room.
She is survived by her husband David Sr., 9 sisters and brothers, children and their spouses: Isabel and Richard Gutierrez, Yolanda Sassenhagen, David, Jr. and Veronica Sassenhagen, and Abel and Veronica Sassenhagen, 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren all of whom brought great joy to Rosario in her years. She is preceded in death by her mother, Victoria Gomez-Herrera and Petra and Arturo Sassenhagen, mother and father in law and her beloved dog, Chico.
Visitation will be held at Palmer Mortuary on Friday, January 9, 2015 from 5:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p. m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 10:00 a. m. An Inurnment will be held at San Juan Cemetery in Geronimo at a later date.
