Rose Cuevas

Rose Marie Cuevas of Seguin, Texas passed away on May 18, 2019. She was born in Littlefield, Texas on July 20, 1953 to Manuel Cisneros and Magdalena.
She is preceded in death by her father Manuel Cisneros and her son Daniel Cuevas.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Raul M. Cuevas; Mother, Magdalena Cisneros; Children: Javier C. Cuevas, Teresa Cuevas; siblings, Margarita Cisneros, Helen Morales (Gabino), Manuel Cisneros, Jr. (Anita), Patricio Cisneros, and George Cisneros (Gloria); grandchildren, Victoria Martinez, Adelina Cuevas, Alexis Martinez and numerous nieces and nephews.
It is hard to sum up 65 years of life into a few brief paragraphs. On the other hand, it's really not that hard because in reality there are only a few things you have to get right. Rose Marie's ambitions in today's world may have seemed simple but I assure you they were far from inconsequential.
She spent 45 years as a devoted wife and partner to Raul, her husband-her Guapo. Her favorite place was right next to him on the couch. They had a rare bond that when illness would take her capacity to speak at times she could use a glance, gesture, or garbled sound and seemingly without effort he would know what she was trying to communicate. It was a marvel to witness and something that was envied.
Rose Marie was a dedicated mother, she often said that she had her pair…a boy and a girl. She truly cherished being a mother. During those child-rearing years, she catered to most reasonable and often those unreasonable requests too. Then there was the son that was not meant to be, Daniel. Although many years had passed, it was not uncommon for her to still ask, "Is Daniel's grave clean?" He was never far from her mind and heart. She cared for her family very much. In fact, she wouldn't take a bite of her meal unless she asked about 4 or 5 family members and received an answer as to their well-being.
She loved kids, many of her nieces and nephews can attest to her being a caring babysitter and she made the best fideo. It never ceased to amaze me how she could make something delicious out of nothing much. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends whenever needed. As she got older and her children grew up; I think she missed that interaction so she took a job as a Lunch Monitor at Jefferson Elementary. She was quiet and caring and proudly answered to the name of Grandma Cuevas. Sadly, illness struck her but not before getting a chance to be a real grandmother three times over. She loved playing loteria with her granddaughters and watching them play outside.
She loved her plants and flowers. Roses were her favorite. She had a brown thumb, luckily her Guapo has a Green one. She enjoyed crocheting, watching her soaps, and ice cream. Can't forget the ice cream. She loved her blizzards, Rocky Road, and banana splits.
To the world, Rose Marie was a mom like any other, but to us, she was our world.
Visitation will be held at Palmer Mortuary Chapel on Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Friday, May 14, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the San Geronimo Cemetery.
