Sisto Reyes, Jr. was a beloved husband, father, and Popo during his 81 years of life. He passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, December 14th, 2024.
We will remember Sisto for his love of God, his servants heart, and his playful nature. He prayed for us, counseled us, and took care of us when we needed someone the most. He will always be remembered for his steadfast faith in God, and we can only hope to aspire to live lives of faith and service that would make him proud.
Sisto had a long and full life. He was born on April 26, 1943 in Seguin, Texas, to two loving parents, Sisto Reyes, Sr. and Petra Hernandez Reyes.
He married the love of his life, Mary Lou Soto, on January 1, 1967. On New Year’s Eve 1966, Sisto and Mary Lou snuck away, telling their families they would be back soon to ring in the new year, only to secretly elope in the early hours of the morning on New Year’s Day. They were happily married for 57 wonderful years.
Sisto and Mary Lou had their first child, a son, Michael Reyes in 1967. Their only daughter, Cynthia Reyes in 1971. A son, Oscar Reyes, in 1974; and their son Benancio Soto-Reyes was born in 1982. Sisto was the backbone of his family, leading and guiding them throughout the years — his presence will always be remembered and remarkably missed.
Sisto is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou Reyes, and all of his children, Michael Reyes, Cynthia Reyes and her husband Keith Christiansen, Oscar Reyes and his wife Jennifer Ayala Reyes, and Benancio Soto-Reyes. His nine grandchildren, Samantha Esquivel and her husband Ramon Esquivel, Cristian Flores, Mia Reyes, Draven Reyes, Kristopher Diesburg, Oscar Reyes, Jr., Nicole Reyes, Nicolas Reyes, Evelynn Reyes, and one great-grandchild.
